Trading journal MCP server for ChatGPT and Claude
Blindspot is a free futures trading journal with a built-in MCP server. Connect ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code or Cursor and ask about your own trading in plain English. The assistant answers from your real trades, stats, notes and journal.
- Server URL:
https://blindspotjournal.com/api/mcp - Works with ChatGPT, Claude (web and desktop), Claude Code, Cursor and any MCP client
- OAuth sign-in for ChatGPT and Claude; a personal token for Claude Code and Cursor
- Your data only, read-only unless you allow writing, revoke any time
- Free on every Blindspot account while in beta
What you can ask
Real questions traders ask their journal through the connector:
- "What did my mistakes cost me this month, in dollars and as a share of my gross profit?"
- "Which hour of the day do I lose money in? Show me the trades."
- "Do I trade worse the day after a losing day?"
- "Read the notes on my five biggest losers. What do they have in common?"
- "What was price doing in the ten minutes after I exited my last three losers?"
- "How does my opening range breakout playbook perform when I tick every rule versus when I skip one?"
- "Compare my MNQ and MES results this quarter: win rate, profit factor and average hold time."
- "Write a weekly review for last week and save it to my journal."
- "Tag yesterday's 10:42 NQ trade as a FOMO entry."
Example conversation
Which of my mistakes cost me the most, and is there an hour I should stop trading?
get_breakdowns(by="tags") · get_breakdowns(by="time_of_day")
Across your 96 trades (net +$789.45, profit factor 1.21), three mistake tags account for most of the damage:
- Revenge trade: 7 trades, −$820.28, 29% win rate
- Oversize position: 4 trades, −$748.54
- Moved stop: 2 trades, −$538.28
By hour, your 9:00 trades made +$746 over 26 trades. After 10:00 the edge is gone: 10:00 and 11:00 together lost $174 over 63 trades. Stopping at 10:00 would have kept almost all of your profit with about a quarter of the trades.

How to connect
1 Get your trades into Blindspot
Create a free account and connect Tradovate for automatic Tradovate sync, or import a CSV from Tradovate, NinjaTrader, TopstepX, AMP, TradingView, DayTraders.com or MetaTrader 5. Not ready? Load the demo data and connect to that first.
2 Add the server to your assistant
ChatGPT: open Settings and add a custom connector (ChatGPT calls them apps or
connectors; on some plans you first switch on developer mode in the advanced settings). Paste
https://blindspotjournal.com/api/mcp and choose OAuth.
Claude (claude.ai on the web and the desktop app): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, and paste the same URL.
Claude Code, Cursor and other clients: in Blindspot open Settings → AI
assistant access, generate a personal token, and copy the ready-made command or
mcp.json snippet for your client.
Custom connectors depend on your assistant's plan, and menu names change often. If you can't find the option, look for "add your own MCP server" in your assistant's help.
3 Sign in and approve
Click Connect. Your assistant opens Blindspot's approval page: sign in, check what it asks for, and allow it. Leave write access off for a read-only connection. The assistant never sees your password.
4 Ask
Start a new chat and ask about your trading. The assistant picks the tools it needs.
Read and write tools
The server offers these tools. Read tools need the read permission, which every connection has; write tools need the write permission you grant on the approval page.
| Tool | Access | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| list_accounts | Read | Your trading accounts, own and shared with you, with trade counts. |
| get_stats | Read | Net P&L, trade count, win rate, average win and loss, expectancy and profit factor for any range. |
| list_trades | Read | Round-trip trades with instrument, side, size, times, P&L and tags, filtered and paged. |
| get_trade | Read | Everything about one trade: prices, notes, tags, playbook, MAE/MFE, fills and comments. |
| get_daily_pnl | Read | The calendar: P&L, trades and win rate per trading day. |
| get_breakdowns | Read | By instrument, time of day, holding time, tags (what each mistake cost), playbooks and streaks. |
| get_bars | Read | 1-minute price bars around your own trades, for "what did price do after I exited?" |
| get_journal | Read | Your daily journal: pre-market plans and post-session reviews. |
| get_tagging_options | Read | Your tag values and playbooks, so tagging uses values that exist. |
| update_trade | Write | Tag a trade, edit its notes, attach a playbook and tick its criteria. Your own accounts only. |
| write_journal | Write | Create or update the journal entry for a date. |
Security and control
- OAuth 2.1 sign-in. ChatGPT and Claude sign in through Blindspot's own approval page and get a token for your journal. They never see your password or any broker credentials.
- Your data only. The server reaches your Blindspot journal and nothing else: your accounts and accounts shared with you, never other users' data. Price bars are served only around your own trades.
- Read-only unless you allow writing. Even with write access the assistant cannot import, delete or move trades, change settings or connect brokers.
- Revoke any time. Settings → AI assistant access lists every connected app and token; disconnect one and its next request is refused. Resetting your password disconnects everything.
- Rate limited. Each token has a request limit, so a runaway client can't hammer your journal.
- What happens to the answers is up to your assistant. Data the assistant reads goes into your conversation, under its provider's privacy terms.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Blindspot MCP server URL?
https://blindspotjournal.com/api/mcp. ChatGPT and Claude sign in to it with OAuth; Claude Code, Cursor and other clients can use a personal token from Settings → AI assistant access.
Does the Blindspot MCP server work with ChatGPT?
Yes. Add it in ChatGPT as a custom connector (app) with the server URL and OAuth sign-in. Custom connectors depend on your ChatGPT plan and may need developer mode.
Can the AI change or delete my trades?
It can never import, delete or move trades, change settings or connect brokers. With write permission, and only when you ask, it can tag a trade, edit trade notes, attach a playbook and write daily journal entries in your own accounts. Without write permission it is read-only.
Is the MCP server free?
Yes. It is part of Blindspot, which is free while in beta, on every account. Your AI assistant's own plan may limit custom connectors.
Which trades can the AI see?
Only your own Blindspot journal: your accounts, plus accounts someone shared with you. It never sees broker logins or other users' data, and you can revoke access in Settings at any time.
