A trading journal you can ask: ChatGPT and Claude, connected to your trades
Blindspot is a free futures trading journal with a built-in connector for AI assistants. Connect Claude or ChatGPT once and ask about your own trading in plain English: what your mistakes cost you this month, which hour of the day loses you money, how you trade after a losing day. The assistant answers from your real trades, stats, notes and journal, not from guesses.
Free while in beta. Works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any MCP client.
Setting it up? The Blindspot MCP server guide has the server URL, the steps for ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code and Cursor, every tool the assistant can use, and how sign-in and permissions work.
What the connector does
Blindspot runs an MCP server (Model Context Protocol, the open standard AI assistants use to reach outside tools) at https://blindspotjournal.com/api/mcp. Once you connect, your assistant can:
- Read your numbers. Net P&L, win rate, expectancy, profit factor and drawdown for any date range and account, and the day-by-day calendar.
- Read your trades. Every round trip with its instrument, side, size, times, P&L, tags, playbook and notes.
- Break it down. By instrument, hour of day, weekday, holding time, tag, mistake, playbook and winning or losing streak.
- Read the price around a trade. The 1-minute price bars Blindspot stored around your trades, so it can tell you what price did before your entry and after your exit. It only sees bars around your own trades.
- Read your journal. The pre-market plans and post-session reviews in your daily journal.
- Write, only when you ask. Tag a trade with a mistake or setup, add or edit trade notes, attach a playbook, and write a journal entry.
Asked about all your accounts, it covers the same accounts as All Accounts in the app: your own, plus accounts shared with you only if you chose to count them there. It can read an account a mentor or partner shared with you when you ask for it by name, and can only change trades in your own accounts.
How to connect
1 Get your trades into Blindspot
Create a free account and connect Tradovate for automatic Tradovate sync, or import a CSV from Tradovate, NinjaTrader, TopstepX, AMP, TradingView, DayTraders.com or MetaTrader 5, or enter trades by hand. Not ready yet? Load the demo data and connect to that first.
2 Add Blindspot as a connector
Add a custom connector in ChatGPT or Claude with the server URL https://blindspotjournal.com/api/mcp, or a personal token in Claude Code and Cursor. Step-by-step for each client: connecting to the MCP server.
3 Sign in and allow access
Your assistant opens Blindspot's approval page; sign in and allow it. The assistant never sees your password, and you can revoke it from Blindspot at any time.
4 Ask about your trading
Start a new chat and ask. A few questions traders use:
- "What did my mistakes cost me this month, in dollars and as a share of my gross profit?"
- "Which hour of the day do I lose money in? Show me the trades."
- "Read the notes on my five biggest losers. What do they have in common?"
- "Do I trade worse the day after a losing day?"
- "What was price doing in the ten minutes after I exited my last three losers?"
- "How does my opening range breakout playbook perform when I tick every rule versus when I skip one?"
- "Write a weekly review for last week: what worked, what didn't, one change for next week. Save it to my journal."
- "Tag yesterday's 10:42 NQ trade as a FOMO entry."
Privacy and control
- Your journal only. The connector reaches your Blindspot data and nothing else: no broker logins, no other users' data.
- Read-only unless you allow writing. A connection approved without write permission can only read. With it, the assistant can tag trades, edit notes, attach playbooks and write journal entries, never import, delete or move trades, change settings or connect brokers.
- Revoke any time. Settings → AI assistant access lists every connected app; disconnect one or revoke your personal token and the next request is refused. Resetting your password disconnects everything.
- Your data stays yours. Export your trades as CSV or JSON from Settings whenever you like, and delete your account yourself; the deletion takes your trades and every connected app with it.
- What the assistant does with answers is up to its provider. The data the assistant reads goes into your conversation with it, under that provider's privacy terms.
Frequently asked questions
Which AI assistants work with Blindspot?
Claude (claude.ai on the web and in the desktop app, plus Claude Code), ChatGPT through a custom connector, Cursor, and any other client that speaks the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The server address is https://blindspotjournal.com/api/mcp.
Can the assistant change or delete my trades?
It cannot import, delete or move trades, change settings or connect brokers. With write permission, and only when you ask, it can tag a trade, edit trade notes, attach a playbook and write daily journal entries in your own accounts. A connection approved without write permission is read-only.
Does the AI company get my broker login?
No. The assistant never sees your Blindspot password or any broker credentials. It signs in through Blindspot's own approval page and receives a token limited to your journal, which you can revoke in Blindspot's Settings at any time.
How do I disconnect it?
In Blindspot go to Settings → AI assistant access and disconnect the app or revoke the token. The assistant's next request is refused. Resetting your password also disconnects every app.
Does it cost extra?
No. AI assistant access is part of Blindspot, which is free while in beta. Your AI assistant's own plan may limit custom connectors.
